Plot Summary

At the height of World War I, playful French country girl Marianne (Marion Davies) patiently awaits the return of her soldier fiancé, André (George Baxter). But when a group of Americans stops in her tiny village, Marianne meets and falls hard for Pvt. Stagg (Lawrence Gray), a handsome American serviceman. Just as Marianne and Stagg grow close, André arrives from the front lines with life-changing injuries. Consumed with guilt, Marianne struggles to choose between her two great loves.
