  • Radice has delivered an engaging portrait of a loose cannon back when professional sports still produced such unfiltered creatures, a man who lived by his own rules, said what he thought and wore curlers to practice when he felt like it. show more

  • The film is fine in depicting Ellis' times, but it's mostly how he came to realize that he had a serious problem and turned his life around to become a drug-abuse counselor. He died in 2008 at age 63. show more

  • The idea that documentarian Jeffrey Radice would make the episode both the hook and the opener for his film is to be expected — it’s an attention-grabbing story. But a hook is all it is. show more
