A showdown is definitely coming.

HBO finally gave "Game of Thrones" fans the first Season 8 teaser on Thursday, Dec. 6. The video is less than a minute long, but it's something new and interesting to dissect while we wait for the show's final season to kick off this spring. While there isn't any footage from the upcoming episodes, it sets the stage for an epic war of ice and fire.

Watch the teaser below.

The video teases ice and fire sweeping the Seven Kingdoms before meeting and clashing. Alarmingly, ice covers both a statue of a wolf and of a dragon, while a lion statue burns. It's hard to say how much we should read into that, but given that those are symbols of some of the great houses of Westeros, it could foreshadow the Stark and Targaryen forces falling to the Night King, leaving the Lannisters to hold strong. That's a scary thought.

Our curiosity just keeps getting worse. We'll see how it plays out when "Game of Thrones" Season 8 premieres in April 2019 on HBO.
