Ready to get spooked?

"Goosebumps" fans will be in for a treat when the beloved book series comes to life in the Rob Letterman-directed action-adventure film.

"It's a big deal," the movie's star Jack Black tells Made In Hollywood. "I mean they've been trying to do it for 20 years. We finally cracked the code, so I'm real proud to be part of it. There are millions of people who love these books, so it was just our goal to make them scary and funny and cool as the books were."

Black, who plays series creator R.L. Stine, met up with the iconic author to get his stamp of approval on the direction in which the film was going.

"Before we started shooting, we wanted to get ['Goosebumps' creator R.L. Stine]'s blessing, and obviously get his creative notes on the script," Black says. "So, we flew to New York and had lunch with him. He was just an amazing guy. He's got a great sense of humor. He loved the script."

Although he was in favor of what Black and the rest of the cast and crew were doing, he had one piece of guidance.

"He said, 'Don't make it too scary,'" Black explains. "[He said], 'Make it scary, but remember my audience. There's a lot of kids there, so make it thrilling and funny and scary, but don't make it terrifying.'"

In the movie, which hits theaters on Friday, Stine's imaginary demons are set free in the town of Greendale, Maryland.
