Acclaimed actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio will be honored by his peers for his roles on and off the big screen.

The five-time Oscar nominee will receive the Screen Actors Guild Foundation's "Actors Inspiration Award" on Nov. 5 at an event in Los Angeles. The organization's award program recognizes his film career as well as his philanthropic efforts to protect the world's oceans and bring awareness to issues on climate change.

In a statement DiCaprio said "it is an honor to be recognized by the SAG Foundation, a group which does so much to support, sustain, and educate my fellow actors and give back to the entertainment industry, as well as the work it has done to advance children's literacy. As the SAG Foundation moves into its next 30 years, I’m proud to be a continuing supporter and contributor to its legacy and its future.”

DiCaprio will be seen next in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s western-thriller "The Revenant," in theaters on Christmas Day.
