Sam Smith's anthem "Writing's On The Wall" for the upcoming Bond film "Spectre" was released Friday.

The newest 007 tune is available for download via iTunes for $1.29 and sets a similar melancholy tone like that of Adele's contribution to 2012's "Skyfall," which earned an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song as well as the Grammy Award for best song written for visual media.

Some fans have compared the highly anticipated track to Michael Jackson's 1995 "Earth Song."

The Brit soul singer took to Twitter days earlier to thank fans for pre-ordering the song and said he was eager for its release. He tweeted: “4 days!! Thanks to everyone pre-ordering, can’t wait for you to hear ‘Writing’s On The Wall.'”

Earlier this month Smith announced via statement that he was tapped to perform the "Spectre" theme song, calling it "one of the highlights of my career."

He continued: “I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”
