Vine celebrity Logan Paul joins Disney Channel star Peyton List in starring in a young-adult thriller called "The Thinning," in the latest effort by Hollywood to tap into the audience-generating power of social media.
Set in a post-apocalyptic future where people's fates are controlled by a high school aptitude test, "The Thinning" will be a feature-length film reaching viewers through digital sell-through and digital on-demand, Variety reports.

Paul and List have about 26 million social-media followers between them -- with Paul boasting 16 million followers, 8.7 million on Vine, another 5.2 million on Facebook, and videos getting more than 1 billion views in the last three months. List, the star of the "Jessie" spinoff "Bunk'd," has more than 10 million social media followers.
Directed by Michael Gallagher, production begins later this month with distribution by Legendary Digital set for next year.
