Admittedly, Anne Hathaway makes a bad first impression.

It's the reason why she didn't approach Mariah Carey when she saw the singer at the premiere of her latest movie "The Intern."

Though Hathaway rubs shoulders with Hollywood heavy hitters on a regular basis, the "Les Miserables" Oscar winner says she still gets starstruck.

"I'm not good at keeping it together and cool," she confesses to Seth Meyers Thursday on "Late Night," adding that she still hasn't met the diva.

"You'd think you'd just want to run up say, 'hey, how's it going?' but if you're not going to sit down and have a meal with them or work with them, sometimes when you meet, I'm am not good at meeting people."

She adds there was no doubt in her mind that she was going to make a bad first impression with Carey.

Asked what she would have said to Carey if she had actually approached her, Hathaway reveals, "Okay, this is going to sound so weird but my cousin and I used to have a mechanical reindeer and we named it Charm Bracelet after your album. It is so nice to meet you."

"That is a true story, you are welcome," Meyers responds. "It is not a very good story, she would have been very taken with it."

"The Intern" opens Friday. Watch the trailer below.
