Beware 2012, which works the dubious miracle of almost matching "Transformers 2" for sheer, cynical, mind-numbing, time-wasting, money-draining, soul-sucking stupidity. show more

There's something to be said for a formula picture done almost to perfection. In 2012, Emmerich gives you everything you expect, but gives it to you bigger. show more

The movie is an undeniable visual spectacle, but just as unequivocally a cheesy, ridiculous story. show more

A mega disater hits Earth and California slips into the sea - predictions, courtesy of the "Mayans" that come true in 2012. Shades of the Great Flood done techno style (we know positively it won't happen again). Constant "edge of the seat will he make it" disaster scenes but the good guys win in the end. Predictable and incredulous but okay. Most any movie without sex & non-stop profanity today beats a lot of the also rans.
