Harlin even makes poor Kilmer go running about. Just like that image, "5 Days" is embarrassingly clumsy. show more

Fails both as historical re-enactment and as action-flick thrill ride. show more

Neither innovative nor profound, but it is kinetic, visceral and sometimes moving. show more

5 Days of War feels low-budget in everything except its battle sequences. show more

    Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times

None of the action is coherent; shots and shells are fired, people and killed or not, explosions rend the air, SUVs spin aloft (the same one more than once, I think), and there is no sense of strategy. show more

Should appeal more to those who like to watch stuff blow up than understand exactly why the carnage is transpiring. show more

A tired old quote about truth being the first casualty of war is a strange way to start 5 Days of War, an overwrought drama that, whatever its good intentions, could hardly be said to aim for objectivity in its account of the 2008 conflict between Russia and Georgia. show more

Renny Harlin seems now incapable of taking a movie even as far as a few frames. show more

Joshua Rothkopf Time Out New York

The hard fact, though, is that Harlin's instincts - always toward the massive and slo-mo - make him a fairly dunderheaded political analyst. show more

Most unforgivable, however, is the film's coda in which real Georgian victims pose for the camera with pictures of their loved ones lost in the five days of war. Using real people to impart the emotions that the entire film was unable to evince is simply cheap exploitation. show more

This movie is total lie nothing even close what really happened in South Ossetia. Georgian army attack Ossetia killing thousand!!! When you watch such bs movie it make you feel so bad for Ossetian people they the one who was raped, killed, burned alive, cut on pieces. Guess who trained Georgian soldiers to kill Ossetian people ????? Yep United States Of America land of freedom nice ah?? So why do you think some brain damage company would film such propaganda movie??? Oh yeah!! to make Americans believe that Russia attack Georgia not Georgia attacked South Ossetia killing over 10 Russian peacekeepers hundreds civilians. What do think Russia should just stay and watch how more Russian peacekeepers and Ossetian people die?? from Georgian aggression?? Of course Russia had bring troops into Ossetia and defended there soldiers and civilians. People just do more research on this topic you will find out what is all about.
