Big Miracle is not the most sophisticated adventure film, but compared with most family movies, it's practically something out of Noel Coward. show more

    Claudia Puig USA Today

It's certainly a worthy saga. But given the abundance of one-dimensional human portrayals, it becomes apparent that a documentary on the subject might have been more powerful. show more

The genuinely sweet nature of this sometimes clunky movie is mixed with a little sass, and wins you over. show more

    Michael Rechtshaffen The Hollywood Reporter

It's the affable cast, headed by Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski, that really makes the picture so widely accessible. show more

But there's so much going on in Big Miracle that the biggest miracle of all – the whales at the center of the story, get lost amid all the criss-crossing love stories, political wheeler-dealing and well-intentioned but inadequate rescue missions. show more

Big Miracle is a family movie fitted with the usual appeals to multiple audiences, and though tots, teens and younger parents might find the action a little slow until the rescue pressure builds, the grandparents will enjoy it as a trip down media memory lane. show more

    Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune

Big Miracle tells its sort-of-true version of events in a democratic and humane fashion, by way of a rangy, lively group of competing interests who actually do on occasion act like real people. show more

Big Miracle even throws in an unexpected bonus, a surprise last-minute cameo that is funny without being the slightest bit mean, just like the rest of this hugely likable movie. show more

    Lou Lumenick New York Post

It's an exciting, charming and often quite funny family film. show more

It needs only to entertain. And that it does thoroughly, leaving us both charmed and enriched without feeling very preached at. Praise be. show more

This was one of those special films that are rare because they show humanity at it's best. Excellent film.

Not a bad movie but Drew Barrymore is the worst actress. She almost ruined the movie because her character was so weak. Why do they use her in movies?

This movie was okay. My husband and I took our two children ages 5 and 8 to see it and they were bored with it. I thought the movie would be more like A dolphin Tale, which kept my children\'s attention. Big Miracle...not so much. It took you back to the 80\'s, which was cool to see how they used 80\'s props to set the scenes. I enjoyed the movie, but would have enjoyed it more if I didn\'t have to keep telling my kids to be quiet and watch the movie. I think older children may enjoy it, ********* not very action packed to keep younger children excited. Within the first 30 minutes of the movie my kids were asking when the film would be over. There were a lot of scenes that smaller children really wouldn\'t understand.

Great family movie... and a \"whale\" of a story - with even a true love story in the mix. Something for everyone - even the kids - as it shows a respect for these beautiful creatures from the native American cultural perspective, to modern environmentalists, and just plain - everyone - involved approaching the sujbect from different viewpoints. And, an underlying theme is that when we \"work\" - people of the world can accomplish wonderful things.
