Jammed with story threads that don’t cohere, Cirque commits the cardinal sin for a vampire movie: It’s bloodless. show more

    Peter Hartlaub San Francisco Chronicle

The movie is occasionally clever, but still inferior to last year's "Twilight" film, mostly because the story is so muddled. show more

It's creepy but tinged with sarcasm and infused with silly fun. show more

Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News

While "Twilight" will make more money and get more attention, the darkly comic Cirque du Freak boasts the shaggy charm of the natural underdog. show more

Making a vampire movie without any bite is like removing guns from a Western. show more

Reilly is very funny as the sarcastic mentor, and director Paul Weitz strikes a loopy tone in the scenes at the freak encampment. show more

    Rene Rodriguez Miami Herald

The finished film has been tinkered with and tweaked so thoroughly that it borders on the incomprehensible. show more

Reilly gives it his all, and he’s both very enjoyable and about as scary as a stubbed toe. show more

A profoundly unsatisfying experience - and that doesn't consider the derivative nature of the plot and a lackluster performance by the lead actor. show more

All 12 books were awesome but some things from the movie weren\'t mentioned in the books. Like Rebecca for example in never said that there was a monkey girl in the book, the only girlfriend he had was Debbie Hemlock.....but still it was a pretty good movie...

This was a fun movie to watch. I enjoyed this movie a lot. The characters are enjoyable and the plot is "there" for the most part.

Off to a slow start with some flatness in between. I must say I was fascinated with the amusing characters though. Overall I'd say somewhat enjoyable but more forgettable in my book. Seems to be more popular for those under 30.

it was pretty entertaining, actors do their best, specially Chris Massoglia which is a pleasure to watch (if you like males for that matter, if not there's salma hayek, with a beard) really hope it does well for a sequel.
