Aiming for the heartfelt hilarity of "Superbad," I Love You, Beth Cooper is just super bad. show more

    Peter Hartlaub San Francisco Chronicle

Isn't a terrible addition to the teen coming-of-age party movie catalog. It just feels dated. show more

    Claudia Puig USA Today

This leaden teen comedy is meant to be lively, but it's curiously bland. show more

    Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer

The film quickly turns unintentionally, and unrelentingly, awkward. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

This unfunny, unoriginal, charmless teen comedy is so stunningly awful from start to finish, it's amazing to think its director has made a single film before, much less a dozen. show more

    The Hollywood Reporter

Although the teenage audience is notoriously undiscriminating, it's hard to imagine many kids turning out for this laugh-free comedy. show more

Lumbering comedy, adapted by Larry Doyle from his own novel. show more

    Kyle Smith New York Post

Isn't especially hilarious, but it has a warm sense of humor instead of a string of gross-out jokes. It'll be a cable mainstay. show more

I turned this off after 20 minutes. Unbearably predictable and just all around lame.

With the characteristics listed that led to its PG-13 rating you might think that I Love You, Beth Cooper would be piece of crap. But, the trailer had hooked me so I checked it our anyway. I was quite pleasantly surprised. See my full review at ***
