when people call this \"slow\" I think it says more about them than the film. Nice to see scenes with people walking in the city center and not a car-chase in sight.

Brendan Gleeson is sensational as the world-weary, been there, done that hired killer, who seems comfortable with and somewhat resigned to his chosen line of work. He is both bemused and dismayed by Colin Farrell, who is riveting as a haunted. conflicted man who is extremely uncomfortable in his profession. The interplay between these characters is fascinating. Ralph Fiennes character is two people in one skin. One character is the ultimate family man; the other a stone-cold killer. The scenery is breathtaking, the elements of humor refreshing, the violence stunning, and the score is so terrific that I bought the CD. Loved it.

Sometimes I wonder where these dark murder mystery films derive their plots! The accents and scenery of this Belgium city plus twisted endless turns make this a better than average film. Thank god for the Golden Globes otherwise I might have never seen this film. Colin Farrell didn’t win me over with his acting because he could shed a few tears, and I sure hope he didn’t LIVE! Rather actor Brendan Gleeson made this movie worth seeing at least once!
