Like the delusional Lars, the you need to suspend reality, but once you do, you've got comedy, tragedy, and lots of charm. Bravo for Gossling. He's... errific! Full Review
A great movie, albeit far far fetched.
This movie was adorable, I enjoyed every moment of it. I got a lot of people into the movie so it says something. Seriously considering renting the... movie again. Gosling did a wonderful job. Kudos!!! Full Review
this was such a cute comedy, i really and strongly recommend it!
I REALLY REALLY wanted to like this movie. I go out of my way to like off-beat, non-blockbuster type movies. I go out of my way to see the artistic... ide of films. With that said, this movie just doesn't make sense. I get the emotional issues and I get the community trying to help, but it goes way too far and it stretched way too far to even begin to let you imagine this happening. I suggest you not spend any time with this movie, as much as I strived to like it. Full Review

It's nothing less than a miracle that the director, Craig Gillespie, and the writer, Nancy Oliver, have been able to make such an endearing, intelligent and tender comedy from a premise that, in other hands, might sustain a five-minute sketch on TV.Full Review
Gosling's performance is a small miracle, not only because he's so completely open as a man who's essentially shut off, but because he changes and grows so imperceptibly before our eyes.Full Review
The creators of this film were fiercely determined not to go so much as a millimeter over the line into sentiment, tawdriness or mockery. It's the rare film that is the best possible version of itself, but "Lars" fits that bill.Full Review
How this all finally works out is deeply satisfying. Only after the movie is over do you realize what a balancing act it was, what risks it took, what rewards it contains. A character says at one point that she has grown to like Bianca. So, heaven help us, have we.Full Review
At a time when romantic comedies seem to have exhausted unique ideas, along comes Lars, an original, amusing and heartfelt tale sharply written by Nancy Oliver (Six Feet Under).Full Review
