After taking a job at her aunt's travel agency, she falls in love with Ian Miller (John Corbett), a teacher who is tall, handsome and definitely not Greek. • Like Vardalos and Corbett, who play their roles with vibrant charm, the film, directed by Joel Zwick, is heartfelt and hilarious in ways you can't fake. It's a keeper. show more

  • Five minutes into the film, I relaxed, knowing it was set in the real world, and not in the Hollywood alternative universe where Julia Roberts can't get a date. show more

  • Vardalos made the Portokaloses so funny they'll make your own family seem tame. show more

As I am from European descent,I can understand why families hold on to \"tradition\". A Greek girl tries to change her family, when they get stuck to the \"old ways\" of romance.Toula Portokalos(NiaVardalos),meets Ian Miller(John Corbitt),but the romance, unfortunately, starts out with trouble. Her dad Gus(Constantine), and mother(Kazan) try to change her mind, but she persists with following her \"heart and feelings\".Toula\'s brothers are hilarious as they play pranks on their future Brother-in-law.When the couple meet his wacky parents, the riotous laughs unfold! I say cheers to the cast, for this wonderful production that proves Love has other plans in mind.
