Everyone in the Portokalos family worries about Toula (Nia Vardalos). After taking a job at her aunt's travel agency, she falls in love with Ian Miller (John Corbett), a teacher who is tall, handsome and definitely not Greek. Like Vardalos and Corbett, who play their roles with vibrant charm, the film, directed by Joel Zwick, is heartfelt and hilarious in ways you can't fake. It's a keeper. show more

It's a buoyant comedy with more warmth and generosity of spirit than anything else in theaters right now. show more

Wedding feels a bit anachronistic. Still, not every low-budget movie must be quirky or bleak, and a happy ending is no cinematic sin. show more

As I am from European descent,I can understand why families hold on to \"tradition\". A Greek girl tries to change her family, when they get stuck to the \"old ways\" of romance.Toula Portokalos(NiaVardalos),meets Ian Miller(John Corbitt),but the romance, unfortunately, starts out with trouble. Her dad Gus(Constantine), and mother(Kazan) try to change her mind, but she persists with following her \"heart and feelings\".Toula\'s brothers are hilarious as they play pranks on their future Brother-in-law.When the couple meet his wacky parents, the riotous laughs unfold! I say cheers to the cast, for this wonderful production that proves Love has other plans in mind.
