I see this film as intricate, and it makes the Heart ponder about illness and Death. The two main actresses steel the show! Jessie (Spacek), is a divorced mom who is "hell- bent" on suicide. She spends... a day with her mom Thelma (Bancroft) and decides to end it all. The dialogue between the two women is the whole plot of the film. Thelma tries to carry the burden Jessie has harbored in heart, but is unsuccessful in being a comfort. Jessie's speech to her mom about "what would make me stay" is so convincing, that one would feel her anguish and dispair at Life. In the end,a viewer realizes that Suicide is seriously, and sometimes thoroughly planned. Bancroft and Spacek make this one of the greatest performances. I love them and Bravo and bravo! Full Review
