Silent Hill is not a place you want to go, and that applies for moviegoers as well as this videogame adaptation's characters. show more

Silent Hill: Revelation fundamentally misunderstands the appeal its source material. show more

The first film was imperfect but solid as game-adaps go and fans revelled in its clammy shocks. No such luck this time out. Director Bassett oversees a vaporous horror sequel that rarely raises the pulse. show more

The nurse-monsters look cool - think HR Giger in Ann Summers kit - but the plot and burning fairgrounds are so OTT they dispel any chill factor. show more

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is the nadir of senseless seasonal cinema. But while Bassett's film struggles to say anything coherently, it gets the most important message across perfectly well: "Do not go to Silent Hill!" show more

A knockoff in everything from style to story, it also suffers from 3-D effects that are dim and underwhelming, a maddeningly obtuse storyline, and performances that could have used some serious Herbert West-style reanimation. show more

Some horror movies want to scare you witless, but Silent Hill: Revelation 3D just wants to beat you senseless. show more

One step worse than most of these video game movies. It feels less like a game and more like what happens when you leave your PlayStation on and it becomes a kind of dim screensaver. If we had a controller in our hand, we would probably throw it at the screen. show more

There is a flamboyance to some of the imagery - Heather and her demonic doppelganger embrace on a flaming carousel - but no exuberance, no sense of wonder, fascination or enjoyment. Everything feels like a throwaway. show more

The film is nothing if not liberal with its bloodletting, which integrates cleverly at times with the 3-D: lopped fingers, for example, fly toward the audience. But personalities and plot are thumbnail sketches at best. show more

Creepy camera angles, color schemes, and movement. Other than that, weak on story. It\'s a lot like reading one chapter in a book. You get the sense of what\'s going on, but no real attachment to any characters or their motivations.

I enjoyed it. You have to take the movie as it is intended. Its not oscar material, but it was fun and scary to watch. All in all, I enjoyed it

I was so excited to see this movie, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. The movie starts off with the audience trying to pick up the pieces where Silent Hill left off in the first film. Once the audience is able to get on board with the new story, the movie quickly turns to all of the action scenes that seem to be crunched up in about 30-45 mins. After the action is gone, the movie is only left with cheesy music, wack melodramatic acting and a stupid ending. This was definitely not worth the money, time or the money it took to make the film. Definitely a Redbox film!!! Beware

Silent Hill FAIL is more like it. From the getgo, the movie is all action. That part is great. The monsters are awesome and so are the actors. As a hard-core fan of the series, it delivers excellent fan service. However, the actual movie builds up an ending that is severely lackluster. It seems as if the writers and director slapped these scenes together to form a movie.
