Plot Summary
Oddball cable installer Chip Douglas (Jim Carrey) attempts to strike up a friendship with customer Steven Kovacs (Matthew Broderick) by offering him premium channels at no cost. When Steven rebuffs Chip's frequent need for companionship, Chip goes from a mildly eccentric acquaintance to a full-fledged psycho stalker. Though it's increasingly apparent to Steven that the cable guy is dangerous, convincing his friends, family and the authorities of that is another matter entirely.

I love Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller, and though Jim can at times seem angst ridden, thus not allowing us, the audience to supply some of the story, I though he was great. I also loved the opening stuff about old sitcoms in which Conrad Janis plays a Special Appearance as a Father with Kids like a 'My Three Sons'. Janis is as versatile as Carrey but gets away with it because his humor is based more on reality, which is why I have always enjoyed him in countless films and T.V. series, especially Mork and Mindy in which he played "Mindy's Dad". He is witty and charming, and some of his takes are those of the GREAT HOLLYWOOD COMIC GENIUSES. He also can scare the pants off of you, as I just saw him in a Hollywood Festival in which he directs and stars called Bad Blood opposite 3-time academy award nominee Piper Laurie.
