To all those who "put down" this movie, May I say I went to a Charlton Heston Film Festival and saw this on the big screen. It is so much better than watching it on a tv screen. And it did win the Oscar as Best Picture of 1952. Catch it in the theater if you can. You might change your opinion.

I first saw this movie as a very small girl and was so fascinated by it!!It took forever to find it in VCR tape and then again in DVD and I love it every time I see it. I think it is wonderful and look at all the names in the cast , some of the best actors of all time and most of them are no longer with us. Emmit Kelly the clown, the real and original first was actually on this movie. Red Buttons!! Names that aren't even mentioned. Made in an era where fowl language, sex and nudity weren't needed to sell movies or to make them good.
