I cannot understand the critics' reviews! My husband and I thought this was an AWESOME movie with great performances by the actors. We talked about the movie for days after, and my husband even wants to go back and see it again! The movie tugs at your emotions and the last scene is subtle, but powerful. At the end of the movie, no one got up to leave. Certainly was surprised that I did not see this movie rated as 5 stars! I would be disappointed if it was not up for an Oscar! Truly, it is a movie that you must see! One of the best movies I have seen in years!

I cannot believe these "Critics" reviews. LaSalle was the only one who came close to the review this movie should have received. I was in a theater that was sold out 2 and 1/2 hours not one person left their seat during this movie it was that interesting. Downey, Duvall and Thorntons performances were excellent. Travers "Bilge" get a job you are better suited for. Second rate Pulg get real. Don't listen to these hacks, go and see this movie yourself it is worth it, I would rate it as one of the BEST I have seen in many years.

What a wonderful movie! The performance by Robert Downey Jr. is nothing short of Oscar quality. Robert Duvall is excellent as well. I am a father with an adult son with similar background and capabilities. The difficulty through the years of knowing when to criticize, when to acknowledge and the potential consequences of these interactions, can be remarkably puzzling. The reviews by the "professional critics" are fascinating. For me, they infer a lack of insight into to the complexity of father-son relationships particularly when both father and son are powerful people in different ways. This is a film to not be missed and deserves 5 stars.
