I have read the book, and also the following \"5th Witness\"...this movie was very poor. Mathew McConaughey was a terible chose for this part. He was waaaaay tooooo Mr. cool. The book was much more interesting and methodical, very intense...when watching the movie, I felt as thogh it was all about how cool M/M thought he was. I give the movie an F -

It's easy enough to just soak up star Matthew McConaughey's good-ol'-boy appeal and overlook the film's stilted dialogue, bizarre directorial indulgences, excessive running time and boilerplate "Law and Order"-style narrative. Full Review

A smart, juicy entertainment, but it's the kind of straight-up legal drama that hinges entirely on crafty storytelling and across-the-board solid performances. Full Review

A pleasantly seedy crime thriller. Full Review

The intricate plotting that distinguished the book overwhelms the movie. Full Review

The story, based on the Michael Connelly novel, grows increasingly far-fetched - at times it plays like an expensive pilot for a TV series, maybe a "Young Barnaby Jones" or something. Full Review
