    Tirdad Derakhshani Philadelphia Inquirer

Slapdash, with dialogue and plot points that were cliches in Dickens' era, the pic sends up, then reaffirms, all the values the media sell us each holiday: compassion, forgiveness, tolerance. show more

Joe Neumaier New York Daily News

Comedy characters change and grow. Sometimes, as we see in Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas, they become so much like old relatives that their edge is gone. show more

    Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter

The clunky narrative doesn’t ring true for a second, and the hackneyed dialogue is even worse. show more

One terrible sub-plot away from being a legitimately good movie. show more

    Peter Keough Boston Globe

It’s a Christmas nightmare, stuck with two obnoxious relatives who think they’re funny, and won’t shut up. show more

When Madea is onscreen, at least you know what universe you are in, and there is something interesting and insane to watch. Otherwise, you are thrust into an abyss of meaninglessness and plot-heavy maneuvering overlaid with Christian propaganda that wears out its welcome with the first line of exposition. show more

A lump of cinematic coal Perry’s shoving into America’s stockings this holiday season. show more

A Madea Christmas, for all its narrative shortcomings, also has plenty of laughs. show more

    Time Out New York

The film is a string of dawdling sitcom scenarios and saccharine messages, cobbled together with star wipes pulled straight out of a Walmart commercial. show more

    Nathan Rabin The Dissolve

A Madea Christmas belongs to a rancid strain of Yuletide trifles that feature awful people being terrible to each other for 90 minutes under the sway of insulting plot contrivances before the awfulness is climactically washed away in an avalanche of holiday sentimentality. show more

I am a big fan of Tyler Perry and the Madea character but I was a little disappointed in this movie. Not Tyler Perry\'s best work. We are all entitled to bomb out every now and again. I am sure the next one will be a winner as usual.

So funny, I will see Madea Christmas again. The dialog, the comedy the \"life lessons\" all combined, captivated the entire theatre. Be ready to laugh!

A very funny movie. Good laughs. And a moral to the story. Tyler Perry does it again.
