Surviving Jack

Series Summary
A former member of the military and an oncologist, Dr. Jack Dunlevy is a no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn't feel compelled to sugar-coat the truth. After years of working long hours while his wife, Joanne, raised their kids, he becomes a full-time parent when Joanne goes back to law school. He tries to guide his son, Frankie, who is awkwardly navigating freshman year of high school, and he faces challenges from his 17-year-old daughter, Rachel, who becomes a handful once she is no longer under the watchful eye of her mother.

  • Surviving Jack--based on Justin Halpern's memoir I Suck at Girls--distinguishes itself with a terrific turn by Christopher Meloni as the father and a refreshing treatment of gender roles. show more

  • Surviving Jack is terrific. Funny and smart, poignant and believable, it is undoubtedly the best new comedy of the season. show more

  • The pilot is funny, Meloni holds the whole thing together and even the voice over works--despite there needing to be, at the very least, a five season moratorium on that little conceit. show more
