"Pretty Little Liars" fans are still waiting to see the five-year time jump play out, when Season 6 returns on January 12, but creator I. Marlene King is now clarifying some quotes about the potential end of the series after Season 7.

PLL Season 6 and Season 7 were renewed together, and it's not clear if there will be a Season 8 or even a movie, but those ideas are on the table. However, when Marlene recently spoke with Variety, there was some confusion about what she meant by ending something at Season 7, so she took to Twitter to clarify.

First, here's that section of the Variety interview, which was headlined "'Pretty Little Liars' Will End After Season 7, Says Creator":

Now, with a revamped storyline on the horizon — the new episodes kick off the a five-year time jump, resulting in a more mature "Pretty Little Liars" world — King says she would like for Season 7 to be the last.

"I think that this story when we're back will end next year at the at end of Season 7," King told Variety this week when asked if the time jump gives the series more legs to continue. Then asked, "So you definitely want it to end at the end of Season 7, and don't want it to go beyond that?" King replied: "Correct."

Despite King's statement, ABC Family has not announced any formal plans for Season 7 to be the last, and has not made any decisions beyond that.

But apparently that was just a quote misunderstanding, because Marlene clarified that she was talking about the end of a particular storyline, not the entire series:

Which is not to say that PLL won't end after Season 7, that's just not what she was announcing. Meanwhile, TVLine offered some new Season 6B scoop on Hanna's new fiancé Jordan, who is going to make life tough for Team Haleb.

Do you think Season 7 should be the end or do you hope the story continues into Season 8 and beyond? Maybe it depends on the quality of the Season 6B storylines?
