Get ready to meet the new Lara Croft.

Warner Bros. released the first photos of "Tomb Raider" star Alicia Vikander in the latest issue of Vanity Fair. The two images each show Vikander clad in Croft's iconic tank top and cargo pants, an outfit very similar, of course, to the one Angelina Jolie made famous when she previously took her turn as the video-game heroine.

Unlike Jolie's Croft, the Lara of the reboot is younger and has a different backstory. In the Roar Uthaug-directed film, Vikander plays 21-year-old Lara, a student and bike courier dealing with her father's disappearance. She ends up trying to figure out what happened, which takes her to a tomb located on an island off the coast of Japan.

Vikander thinks that the new Lara will be relatable for a lot of people, not to mention an inspiring female figure.

"She's trying to carve out her place in the world and connect her future with her past," the actress told Vanity Fair. "She also has a fantastic mix of traits--tough, smart, vulnerable, plus she's kick ass!"

Her first photos of Lara Croft do indeed hint at those qualities. She looks a little unsure of herself, but also very determined.

The magazine made a big splash when it tweeted out one of the photos Monday.

As with any reboot, there are some fans struggling to adjust to the change, and many of them can't seem to handle seeing anyone but Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.

Vikander shouldn't feel bad, though; she also has plenty of people cheering her on.

We'll see more of Vikander as Lara Croft as we get closer to March 16, 2018, the day the "Tomb Raider" reboot opens in theaters.
