There's a storm brewing -- lots of them, actually -- and Gerard Butler has to figure out how to stop the impending disaster.
Warner Bros. Pictures released a new "Geostorm" trailer on Thursday, and it introduces us to a near future in which a satellite network is able to keep the planet's climate in check and prevent natural disasters from getting out of hand. Of course, this is where Butler comes in. He plays Jake, a scientist who is called upon to save the day, along with his brother, Max (Jim Sturgess). They don't have an easy time of it, though. For example, as the trailer shows, Max has to convince Sarah (Abbie Cornish), a Secret Service agent, to go rogue and help him snatch the president, which can only bring more trouble.
"Geostorm" sweeps into theaters Oct. 20.
