Raise your hand if you're willing to take credit for that hit-and-run yourself.

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 brought Jo Wilson's (Camilla Luddington) abusive estranged husband into the forefront in the midseason return episode. Dr. Paul Stadler (Matthew Morrison) messed with her mind, he messed with his new fiancée Jenny's (Bethany Joy Lenz) mind, and he tried to mess with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), who was not having it.

Paul signed Jo's divorce papers, then tried to leave, but Arizona Robbins was dispatched to distract him while Jo tried to warn Jenny about the man she was about to marry. Jenny appeared to dismiss Jo as crazy, and Paul ended up taking the card that Jo had given Jenny. Jo was so frustrated and traumatized to know that Paul was going to keep track of her that she openly said she wanted him dead. (We all did, though.)

The episode ended with the shock of Paul being wheeled into Grey Sloan as a patient, reportedly the victim of a hit-and-run accident. Meredith wanted to know if Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Jo hit Paul, but they said they didn't. So who did?

Camilla Luddington teased the answer to Entertainment Weekly:

"The only thing I can say really is there are a lot of twists and turns to this story. You will see them play out in the next episode. When you think you know what's happened, it turns everything on its head, so just keep watching."

She said something similar to TVLine:

TVLINE | Looking forward, how does Jo handle this situation where now Paul looks like the victim?
The only way I can describe it is that the next episode has a lot of twists and turns. There are moments that are going to be really unexpected.

Unexpected. Many fans suspect Jenny is the one who hurt Paul. Is that too obvious? It'll be interesting to see that play out. The Episode 10 synopsis had talked about April having "a surprising patient," so maybe that's Paul. (Or it could still be the little boy in these photos.)

No matter what the outcome of this Paul mystery, it shouldn't break up Jolex, who are now stronger than ever. "You see that they're in this together," Luddington told EW of Jo and Alex. "Whatever happens, they are ride-or-die at this point."

"Grey's Anatomy" Season 14 continues Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
