The tapes were just the beginning on "13 Reasons Why."

Netflix released the first teaser for the second season of its hit (and somewhat controversial) teen drama, which is set to return Friday, May 18.

Season 2 continues to follow the aftermath of the suicide of Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), as friend Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) and various connections struggle with what they heard on the tapes she left behind. Meanwhile, Hannah's parents battle against the school district, which they believe is complicit in her death.

The teaser reveals that the new technology this season are Polaroid pictures. A series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.

Many threads were left unresolved at the end of Season 1, including whether Alex (Miles Heizer) survived his own suicide attempt and if Tyler (Devin Druid) is a potential school shooter. There are also some new faces at Liberty High, including new "It Girl" Chloe (Anna Winters).

As previously announced, Netflix has added new resources to the site 13ReasonsWhy.info for teens and their families to discuss the difficult issues the show addresses, including suicide, bullying, and rape.
