If you didn't think a story involving the Ku Klux Klan could be funny, two things: 1) You're not alone, and 2) you may also soon stand corrected.

Spike Lee has taken on the challenge in his upcoming comedy "BlacKkKlansman," and based on the new trailer, it looks like he pulled it off. The director and co-writer brings to screen the story of Ron Stallworth, a real-life black detective who managed to become the head of a Colorado chapter of the KKK. We get a glimpse of how in the trailer as Stallworth (John David Washington) sets his plan in motion.

The preview opens with Stallworth becoming the first black cop in Colorado Springs, and he quickly decides he wants to make a big difference. To do so, though, the rookie needs help, and he finds it in his colleague Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), who is Jewish. Together, the duo goes after the KKK, making us laugh -- and learn -- along the way.
