"Fargo" is changing things up again for Season 4.

FX announced that the anthology drama created by Noah Hawley will shift to Kansas City in 1950. And the cast will be headlined by Chris Rock, who will play the head of a crime family.

The location in that era is the crossroads and collisions of two migrations — African Americans feeling the Jim Crow South and Italians immigrating from their homeland. They're both fighting for a piece of the American dream via two crime syndicates. There's an uneasy peace settled over an alternate economy of exploitation, graft and drugs.

To cement that piece, the heads of both families have traded their eldest sons. So, Rock's character surrenders his oldest boy to the enemy and must in turn raise his enemy's son as his own. But when the head of the Kansas City mafia dies during a routine surgery, everything changes.

Rock said in a statement, “I’m a fan of 'Fargo' and I can’t wait to work with Noah.”

Season 4's logline sounds like it has ties to Season 2, which starred Jean Smart as a Fargo crime boss who faces off against Kansas City syndicate.

That a fourth season is materializing so soon is a welcome surprise for fans. Last year, Hawley said another season might take awhile  due to his very busy schedule (which included Season 2 of network sibling "Legion").
