Meet the new Hellboy.

The first trailer for the big-screen reboot of the comics character is here, with David Harbour in the titular role of the big, red half-demon with a gigantic, smash-tastic right arm.

He's been trained to kick criminal ass, take names and shoot bad guys right in the face. "You made me a damn weapon," Hellboy tells adoptive father Trevor Bruttenholm (Ian McShane).

The reboot is co-written by comics creator Mike Mignola and directed by Neil Marshall ("The Descent"). It also stars Daniel Dae Kim as sidekick Ben Daimio and Milla Jovovich as Nimue, a medieval British sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind.

The tone of the trailer is more light-hearted and quippy than the 2004 film and 2008 sequel written and directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman. The reboot will have to fill some very big shoes (uh, very large right-hand glove), since fans pretty much worship del Toro's version of the iconic character.

"Hellboy" opens in theaters April 12.
