Nutan Biography

Nutan Samarth Bahl (4 June 1936 – 21 February 1991), known mononymously as Nutan, was an Indian actress who worked primarily in Hindi films for nearly four decades. Her films ranged in genres, establishing her as a bold and versatile actress who took on unconventional roles. Aside from being regarded as one of the finest actors in the history of Indian cinema, Nutan was also crowned Miss India in 1951.

Starting as a child actress in 1950, she received recognition for her naturalistic acting. By the late 1950s, she had become a household name. Her accolades include a record five Filmfare Awards for Best Actress and a Padma Shri, awarded by the Indian Government.
