The film automonosexual describes the psychological state in which an individual is able to achieve sexual gratification by viewing their reflection during masturbation This film depicts the fantasy and selffascination necessary for sexual narcissism and serves as an autobiographical account of the sexual frustration and isolation felt in the face of AIDS Edgar Barens shoots his own body in more ways than one He plays with industrial sounds and metaphors while discovering a new way to photograph an act usually reserved for porn
