The Importance of Family in Lilo & Stitch

Lilo: [holding Stitch's dead body in her lap; takes her flower off her head; puts it in Stitch's hands; starts breaking down in tears of grief; hugs his body tightly; breaks down cries and sobs over his loss] Stitch, I'm so sorry. I kept saying how I needed you. But you needed me more. You're my ohana, Stitch. And I'll always love you.
Stitch: [resuming words] Stitch not bad. Stitch fluffy!
Lilo: [happily] Stitch!
Pleakley: How is it possible?!
Jumba: [laughs happily] It's not!
Stitch: Stitch okay now?
Lilo: [hugs him] No more nightmares.
Nani: [hugs him as well] Stitch!

A Plea for Stitch's Return

Lilo: [through the radio] Stitch, can you hear me? I need you. Please come back.
Stitch: [sadly] Stitch can never come back.

Concern for Stitch's Safety Amidst Chaos

Pleakley: I think I should drive.
Nani: Two eyes, my car, I'm driving!
Jumba: At the rate Stitch is going, he's soon to be accelerating into stratosphere. If only we had way to communicate with him.
Pleakley: [on the phone with his mother] I know. It's horrible, Mom. Stitch has taken off in the ship, and we have no way to contact him. Poor Jumba. He's worked so hard.
Jumba: [snatches the phone] Give me that! Yes, yes...Yes, Mother Pleakley. He'll call you back.

Concern for Stitch's Well-Being

Lilo: [sets down her Hi'iaka headdress, then runs off to the forest; Jumba and Pleakley arrive] I'm sorry, Mom. Stitch, come back! Have you seen Stitch?
Jumba: We thought he was with you.
Nani: Lilo, baby, what happened?
Lilo: I'm fine. Something's wrong with Stitch!
Jumba: It's not his fault. He's malfunctioning. And if we don't find him soon...
Lilo: Stitch!
Nani: Stitch?
Pleakley: Oh, Stitch! Where are you?
Jumba: Stitch! Stitch!
David: Hey, you there, brudda, brudda?
Lilo: [climbs up the treehouse, thinking she heard Stitch, but finds Nani instead; Nani shows her the level chart of Stitch level with a red X marked across it; gasps in horror, then devastated] Stitch! No.
Nani: [David and Jumba meet Nani in the forest as they tried to find Stitch] Hey, we'll find him.
David: We looked everywhere!
Jumba: He only has a few minutes left.

Urgent Action Needed to Save Stitch

Jumba: No!
Pleakley: What?! What's happening?!
Jumba: Stitch's circuits are about to blow! We have to get him into the fusion chamber now!
Pleakley: Shouldn't we test it?
Jumba: There isn't time!

Making Up Like Loving Friends

Nani: [fed up with their fighting] That's it! Go to your room and make up like loving friends!
Lilo: [to Stitch] You're gross.
Stitch: [to Lilo] Stupid head.
Nani: [sighs] Keep walking.
Stitch: [regretfully] Stitch sorry.
Lilo: We said we were gonna be good. I needed you, Stitch.
Stitch: [showing her the level chart] Stitch good again.
Lilo: [gentle smile] If you promise to be good, I'll give you one more chance. But I want you to promise.
Stitch: Oh, yeah.
Lilo: [goes downstairs] You get the costumes, and I'll get the record player.
Stitch: Stitch good. Good, good, good, good, good. Stitch good...
Lilo: [gasps] We are ready. Stitch.
Stitch: [gasps] Lilo.
Lilo: Everything's ruined.
Stitch: I sorry.
Lilo: I don't know why I ever believed you.
Stitch: Something wrong with Stitch.
Lilo: I know what's wrong with you. You're bad, and you'll always be bad.

Confronting Consequences in a Dance Rehearsal

Moses/Kumu: [to Lilo after Stitch uncontrollably causes chaos with his glitching; closes the door, leaving with Mertle and her friends] Lilo, you will not be allowed to rehearse at this halau again.
Stitch: [Lilo ignores him and runs out of the door] Lilo, I... I...
Nani: Come on, it couldn't have been that bad.
Lilo: It was.
Nani: Mahalo, have a good one.
Lilo: You're not listening to me.
Nani: I'm listening. I have to work.
Lilo: My hula career is falling to pieces, and you're worried about stinking work?
Nani: Stitch needs you to be patient with him.
Lilo: He did it on purpose.
Nani: You don't mean that.
Lilo: You should have seen the way he was acting.
Nani: Aren't you being overdramatic?
Lilo: His goodness level is at rock bottom.

Hula Dance Emphasizes Friendship and Support

Moses/Kumu: Okay, girls, this is your last rehearsal before tomorrow's competition.
Lilo: What if I forget the moves and Mertle laughs at me? And I get mad and pound her?! You gotta help me, Stitch. I need you.
Stitch: We do together.
Lilo: Our hula is about an ancient friendship that proves love is more powerful than death.
Mertle: Oh, brother.
Lilo: [Stitch hasn't appeared on the stage yet] The great goddess Hi'iaka...that's me...and the brave and handsome mortal Lohi'au...that's Stitch. I said, the handsome mortal Lohi'au! Oh, handsome mortal!
Mertle: Stink-o-rama.
Lilo: [impatiently] Stitch, get out here!

Lilo Reflects on Elvis Presley’s Influence

Lilo: [[Elvis Presley|Elvis; [w:Blue Hawaii|Blue Hawaii] This is the exact bench that ] sat on in ].
Stitch: [as he sniffs the bench] Oh, yeah. That's him.
Lilo: I can't believe it. My butt is in the shadow of the butt of Elvis Presley.
Stitch: Yes.
Lilo: Okay, Elvis. We're ready to receive a great idea for our hula.

Concern Over Stitch's Condition

Pleakley: [following him] Jumba! Jumba! Slow down! Where are you going? Include me! Include me!
Jumba: Something is wrong with 626.
Pleakley: What is it?
Jumba: I don't know!
Pleakley: [a leave hits his face; follows Jumba into the ship, then crosses his arms, looking away from him; a mechanical arm with a sample container pops out] You don't know? You won't tell? Ow! My good eye! You don't trust me. Fine! If you won't tell me what's going on, then I won't tell you something. Ooh! What an interesting secret that I have, that I won't tell Jumba. Oh, my, it's a juicy one.
Jumba: Quiet, you!
Pleakley: [sees a sample of blue fur] OK, I don't have a secret, but don't shut me out. Let me in. Let me… What's that?
Jumba: [the sample container arm with the sample of Stitch's fur retracts back; The super-computer glows with green light as the screen turns on, showing a lowering charge meter beside an image of Stitch; horrified; enraged; calms down] It's a sample of Stitch's fur. Now we shall see. No. No. Those idiot police! I hoped this day would never come.
Pleakley: What are you talking about? What is wrong with Stitch?
Jumba: [sighs; The scene fades to a flashback showing outer space, the windows of a building on a space rock flash green. Inside, Jumba cackles as green energy crackles from a device on the ceiling. He laughs; continues cackling as the green energy zaps around a glass container, showing a ball of blue smoke. As he cackles so hard, he turns off the device, then coughs; approaches the container to see a blue ball inside; The ball unfolds, revealing Stitch in his alien form, looking around, much to Jumba's amazement; brings his face to the glass as Stitch sniffs, then backs up as Jumba yells; Stitch pounces at the glass, making Jumba flinch as he laughs; chuckles; As Stitch growls, Jumba grabs an extendable charging cable; plugs the cable into the container, causing its trim to glow green, then pats it; walks over to look at the screen which shows the charge meter rising; Stitch hops excitedly; Stitch opens one eye] During his creation, Stitch was never fully charged. There it is! Not so easy on the throat. Oh! Can it be? Have I done it? He's so cute, so fluffy, even. Where did I go wrong?! What a relief. Your name is 626. Isn't that nice? Oh, I know. I know. You wanna get out, and wreak some havoc, but your molecules need to be charged. That's the most important part. Meanwhile, I have a little surprise for you. Close your eyes. Uh-uh. No peeking. He cheats already.
Stitch: [covers his hands over his eyes while Jumba chuckles] Oh, jiggiebig!
Jumba: [shows Stitch a red suit] Ta-da!
Stitch: [excitedly speaks alien language as he claws at the container] Ooh!
Jumba: [hears a bang on the door] If it's too big, I had it taken in. Uh-oh.
Stitch: Huh?
Gator Guard: Open up! Intergalactic Police!
Jumba: [stuffs the suit in a box on the side of the container; The door molts] There's nobody home. Uh, check in the mail. I'm in the tub.
Gator Guard: [bursts in] You are under arrest for illegal genetic experimentation!
Jumba: [as the gator guards pull him back from the container with Stitch still inside] You idiots! You'll ruin everything! Oh, no!
Gator Guard: [As Jumba drops to the floor, the leader lifts his visor to speak to his friends] Yeah, yeah. Tell it to the Council. You two, get the evidence.
Jumba: [one gator guard pulls the cable out of its socket on the container; As the charge meter on screen turns red, yellow and orange, the second gator guard, with his visor up, drops the cable, realizing his mistake] No, stop! Stop! His molecules aren't fully charged! No, no! No! Oh!
Computer: Warning. Warning. Warning. Electromagnetic bonding incomplete.
Jumba: [breaks free from the lead gator guard's grip, but he grabs him again; gets dragged away; in the present] No! No! There's no telling what will happen! Let me go! No! What will become of my little monstrosity?! And now, his circuits are going haywire!
Pleakley: [gasps] That's why he was freaking out in the house!
Jumba: He can't control it. If it continues, his circuits will burn themselves out like supernova!
Pleakley: Can you fixed him?
Jumba: [The view closes in on the charge meter still dropping] I must, or my little Stitch will shut down for good.

Family Fun Night with Unique Snacks

Nani: [forcing Lilo and Stitch to have family fun night in the living room; The scene cuts to Lilo, Stitch, Jumba, Pleakley and David, who are all in the living room watching "[[w:Them!|Them!; Everyone responds in agreement] That's it, you two. I have been cooking for hours and finally picked up the house just so we can have quality fun time like Mom used to. You're part of this family, so you are gonna come downstairs and have family fun! Fun, fun, FUN! ]" during a family fun night; enters with a tray of snacks] Is everyone having fun? Great! I made sci-fi snacks to put us in the mood.
Stitch: Oh, yummy!
Nani: [slurps and eats the whole thing] We have deep-fried Martian cockroach. Mmm, delicious!
Pleakley: I think I'm gonna throw up.
Jumba: Ew, I think someone did.
David: [takes out an eyeball dumpling] Uh, Nani, what are these?
Nani: Alien eyeball dumplings. Mmm!
Pleakley: What kind of sick joke is this?
Jumba: [forces the the eyeball dumpling into Pleakley's mouth] Don't be making her mad. Eat it!
Pleakley: [choked] It's good.
Stitch: [scarfing down on a bowl of dip and takes a deep-fried cockroach out of his mouth, attempting to cheer Lilo up] Cockroach?
Lilo: [depressed] I'm too upset to eat. I'm hula-less.
Nani: Aw, honey, I'm sure you'll come up with something. Come on, let's watch the movie.
Pleakley: It's a bit redundant, don't ya think?
Jumba: I'm trying to watch movie. It's so beautiful.
David: [he notices that she has fallen asleep] Nani, I think you did a great job with family night.
Pleakley: I know what your problem is.
David: What?
Pleakley: I'm sorry to break it to you, but your relationship has fizzled.
David: We've been only going out for three weeks.
Pleakley: A fizzle is a fizzle. According to this, comfort plus time equals boring.
David: I think she's just tired.
Pleakley: [Jumba and Stitch shush him; Jumba and Stitch shush him again] Tired, or tired of you? I wanted to dance at your wedding, but that's… Fine.

A Familiar Reunion Among Friends

David: Knock, knock!
Nani: David!
David: [looks confused as he spots Jumba and Pleakley] How is everybody?
Nani: You remember my Auntie Pleakley and Uncle Jumba, right?
David: Uhm...
Nani: [sotto, singsong voice] Say something.
David: Uhh...Nice hat.
Pleakley: Why, thank you, David. See? Uncle Jumba said it made me look top-heavy!
Jumba: Aunt Pleakley wanted the truth!
Pleakley: What we want and what we need are entirely different things. It's true what they say, men are from Mars and women are from Venus.
David: Nani.
Nani: Yeah?
David: You've been stressin so I got movie tickets.
Nani: Movie? David, I would love to, really, but I'm gonna have to rain check.
David: That's okay. I understand.
Nani: Great. Thanks for understanding.

Competition and Confidence Among Young Dancers

Mertle: Hey, Lilo. Maybe your dog can take a picture of me when I win the competition.
Lilo: How do you know you're gonna win?
Mertle: I think it's pretty well known that I'm the best dancer in the seven-year-old division.
Lilo: I don't know. I think maybe I can win!
Mertle: [Lilo growls agitatedly and threatens to beat her up, but Stitch grabs her arm, holding her back; Lilo and Stitch gasp in shock over hearing that] Hello! You're a stinky dancer, and anything that you come up with is gonna be stinky. You'll never be like your mom. Never.
Stitch: [lets go of her arm] Okay.
Lilo: [angrily walks over to Mertle while throwing down her hula headdress, preparing to beat her up] That's it!
Stitch: [takes the camera out of the bag; takes pictures of Lilo leaping at Mertle shouting the [[Tarzan] Smile! ] yell, kicking her and tossing her aside, takes a selfie of himself with the fighting in the background, and accidentally takes the last one of the worried Moses/Kumu appearing]
Moses/Kumu: [telling Nani everything that happened after he escorts Lilo and Stitch home] As you can see, there was a little disagreement again.
Nani: [looking through the pictures] Aye, ya.
Lilo: [to Stitch] Next time, flush the evidence.
Stitch: [imitates a toilet flushes] Ka-slush.

Lilo Showcases Her Uli'uli Technique

Moses/Kumu: Girls, I have very exciting news. This week is our May Day...
Lilo: [showing up late; runs up on the stage] Sorry I'm late. But wait till you see this. I got my uli'uli technique down.
Moses/Kumu: Lilo...
Lilo: Kui kala laima! Ho kee ma! Uliuli, uliuli, ha!
Moses/Kumu: [gets a quick picture taken by Stitch] Lilo.
Lilo: Uliuli, uliuli, ha! Uliuli, uliuli, ha!
Moses/Kumu: Lilo, we're not doing that today.
Mertle: We're not doing that today.
Stitch: [annoyingly takes a picture of her; mockingly; tears up the photo] Nyah-nyah-nyah-nyah, nyah-nyah-nyah. Bleugh!
Elena: Kumu has an important announcement.
Moses/Kumu: In three days is our town's May Day celebration. And here's the best part. There will be a hula competition. Each of you will create an original hula. The one that best expresses the aloha spirit will lead our halau as the winning dance.
Stitch: [pointing to Lilo] You, you, you!

Hovercraft Adventure Permission Granted

Lilo: Can we take the hovercraft? Please?
Nani: It's too dangerous. Besides, someone may see you.
Lilo and Stitch: Please?
Nani: All right, you can take it if you can find it.
Lilo: [runs off with Stitch] Yes!
Nani: [to Pleakley] I hid it so good this time, they're never-
Lilo: [on the hovercraft, by the window; flies off with Stitch] Thanks, Nani!
Nani: [moaning] Aw! I gotta find a better hiding place for that thing.

Nani Pelekai: [sending Lilo and Stitch to their room, fed up with their fighting] That's it! Go to your room and make up like loving friends!

Faith and Perseverance in Adversity

Lilo Pelekai: I know it's hard to keep the faith sometimes, but if you don't give up on Elvis, Elvis won't give up on you.

Lilo's Mission Inspired by Elvis Presley

Lilo Pelekai: When Elvis was in the army, he got things done. Here's a map that shows every place Elvis went to in Kauai. Our mission: is to go to these places, where the King will give us the idea for our hula.

Struggling with Self-Identity and Expectations

Lilo Pelekai: There's no way I can do this. Just because my mom was a great hula dancer doesn't mean I am. The only thing I know I inherited from her is, well, Nani. What if Mertle's right and everything I do is gonna be stinky? Maybe I'm just stinky, like cheese. But my mom was beautiful like an orchid and graceful like a wave. I'll never be like her.

Stitch expresses regret and apologizes.

Stitch: [last words; to Lilo] Stitch sorry.

Stitch Warns Lilo About Danger

Stitch: No, Lilo. Too dangerous.
