Plot Summary

Love, death and forgiveness form the bonds between Dr. John Corday (Charles Coburn) and his three children. An overbearing patriarch, his controlling ways cause daughter Fabienne (Gloria DeHaven) to run away to Greenwich Village, just as his other daughter is preparing for her wedding. Meanwhile, when his son, Dr. Michael Corday (Glenn Ford), fresh out of Harvard Medical School, takes a liking to Evelyn (Janet Leigh), a candy store worker, John tries to quash any chance of romance between them.
