Plot Summary
During World War II, Nazi forces occupy a strategically located Norwegian mining town rich in resources needed for the war effort. The German officer tasked with administering the occupation, Col. Lanser (Cedric Hardwicke), believes that, with some gentle persuasion, the townspeople will eventually cooperate and work with the Nazis. Steadfastly refusing Col. Lanser's attempts at collusion, Mayor Orden (Henry Travers) helps organize a clandestine resistance against the unwanted occupiers.
