"Ant-Man" - Marvel's little hero - proves he packs a big punch as the studio revealed plans for a sequel.

In was announced Thursday that "Ant-Man and the Wasp" will be the second installment of the action-comedy, hitting theaters on July 6, 2018.

The Paul Rudd-led franchise will see him reprise the role opposite Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp. Variety notes that it is the first Marvel feature to include a heroine in its title.

Rudd will also appear in cursory Marvel films, including "Captain America: Civil War," in theaters May 2016.

In "Ant-Man" Rudd takes on Scott Lang, a former petty thief and father who helps his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, played by Michael Douglas, safeguard the Ant-Man technology – which allows its user to shrink in size and gain incredible strength. He can also communicate with ants and other high order insects through a specialized helmet, according to the comic book series.
