Claire Foy's 'The Girl in the Spider's Web' Gets Trailer, Poster & Mixed Reactions
Noomi Rapace. Rooney Mara. Now Claire Foy.
Author Stieg Larsson's iconic character, Lisbeth Salander, is returning to the big screen again in "The Girl in the Spider's Web."
"The Crown" queen Claire Foy transformed for her role as Lisbeth, following in the footsteps of the three Swedish films starring Noomi Rapace; and then David Fincher's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig.
This reboot is said to pick up with Lisbeth Salander (Foy) and Swedish journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Sverrir Gudnason) years after the events of "Dragon Tattoo."
The first trailer was kept intentionally mysterious, director and co-writer Fede Alvarez told EW, because people are always complaining when the trailer gives away the whole movie. But people are always complaining in general, so you can rarely win.

Here are some photos: So far, fan reaction is mixed. Some are just confused. Some will watch Claire Foy in anything, or will follow the books anywhere. Others can't help but compare Foy to Rooney Mara in the David Fincher film:
So. The Girl in the Spider's Web. It looks good. But like.......is it supposed to be a sequel to the Rooney Mara Dragon Tattoo? Or its own complete thing. Still not sure about the whole "Let's skip the books actually written by the original author and recast the leads" thing.

So... three big thoughts on #TheGirlInTheSpidersWeb trailer:
A.) @fedalvar should have always had this series.
B.) Claire Foy already outshines Rooney Mara's Lizbeth.
C.) Holy shit, this series has a pulse again, and I actually want to see this. https://t.co/hSjBmxQbN9— Michael Reyes (@MrControversy83) June 7, 2018

I am already noping out "The Girl in the Spider's Web". I think Sony should have given David and Rooney another chance because the Lisbeth they created was fantastic. To me...Claire has the wrong face for Lisbeth.

Just watched the Girl in the Spider's Web trailer. As someone who've read the book, why the movie seems to have a different plot than the book had?
Perhaps I should re-read the book again. Btw Claire Foy looks promising as the new Lisbeth Salander— Waisaka Candra Jaya (@sakacrawford) June 7, 2018
Won't get my $$$ without Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig!

"The Girl in the Spider's Web" / Noomi Rapace > Rooney Mara > Claire Foy as Lisbeth. Great actresses, but Noomi will always be Lisbeth.

The first trailer for The Girl in the Spider's Web.
I know Claire Foy has tried her best to portray Lisbeth Salander. She's a terrific actress.
But, based on this trailer, she's lack of fragility that Rooney Mara added to her Lisbeth w/ a simple jaw gesture.
But will watch this pic.twitter.com/kVTPetdDpu— PicturePlay (@picture_play) June 7, 2018
I'm gonna watch The Girl In The Spider's Web anyway but Rooney Mara was such a perfect Lisbeth ???? - who's just one of my all time favourite characters. Claire Foy is a brilliant actress, though.

Still pissed about how Fincher/Mara/Craig got shafted but I'm still somewhat interested in the Girl in the Spider's Web and will treat it by its own merits.
