"Lilo and Stitch" is the latest animated Disney movie that's getting the live-action treatment.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, the team behind the upcoming live-action remake of "Aladdin," are producing what will be a live-action/CG hybrid, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Lilo and Stitch," which was released in 2002, centered on a little Hawaiian girl named Lilo and an alien creature she adopts as her "dog." Stitch is genetically engineered to create chaos and destruction, but his bond with Lilo causes him to reconsider that mission.

While the movie wasn't one of Disney's biggest animated hits, it did spawn several direct-to-video sequels and a TV series.

The live-action version may be released theatrically or on Disney's forthcoming streaming service.

Disney has been actively converting its animated classics into live-action movies, and has found success with titles like "Cinderella" and "Beauty and the Beast." The studio is currently working on "Aladdin," "The Lion King" and "Dumbo."
