Dramatic and moody - it seems to be the formula for 007 theme songs, and Sam Smith's turn at the crooning for the latest James Bonk flick "Spectre" is no different.

The British star shared on Twitter a very brief teaser of "Writing's on the Wall" on Tuesday, his contribution to the canon of opening songs for the spy movie franchise.

"4 days!! Thanks to everyone pre-ordering, can't wait for you to hear 'Writing's On The Wall'" he tweeted, adding a link to pre-order the song.

The 15-second-long clip is strictly instrumental and doesn't offer much other than to set a tone similar to Adele's anthem for the last 007 film "Skyfall," which earned an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song as well as the Grammy Award for best song written for visual media.

Earlier this month Smith announced via statement that he was tapped to perform the "Spectre" theme song, calling it "one of the highlights of my career."

He continued: “I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.”
