Superheroes aren't the only ones who get origin stories.

The Weinstein Company has dropped a new trailer for "The Founder," its upcoming film about a key player in the history of the iconic fast food chain McDonald's. It looks like a surprisingly fascinating tale -- one in which the main character might not come off as a hero.

The preview offers a glimpse at Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a struggling salesman who happens to discover a Southern California restaurant owned by Mac and Dick McDonald. Impressed by their quick turnaround time, he begins to imagining big things. Unfortunately, that doesn't bode well for Mac (John Carroll Lynch) and Dick (Nick Offerman). As we now know, Ray ultimately manages to gain control of the company and turn it into a burger empire.Laura Dern also stars in the film, which is directed by John Lee Hancock. Robert Siegel wrote the script.

"The Founder" opens in theaters on Jan. 20.
