Zac Efron in red swimming trunks and little else? Sign us up!

The 27-year-old heartthrob is negotiating a deal to star in the big screen adaptation of the '90s syndicated TV show "Baywatch," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Starring opposite Dwayne Johnson as a no-nonsense lifeguard, Efron would play his much younger, rebellious partner. The pair attempt to save their beach from environmental disaster.

If the deal goes through, Efron would likely begin production in February 2016, THR notes, and it should arrive in theaters the following year.

The film is being described as a tongue-in-cheek parody version of its TV series origins a la Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill's "21 Jump Street."

The "Baywatch" TV series aired from 1989-2001 that followed David Hasselhoff as the head lifeguard on a picturesque California beach and his and attractive roster of lifeguards who donned clingy red swimsuits, including Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Yasmine Bleeth, David Chokachi, Gena Lee Nolin, David Charvet and more.
