Plot Summary
Unemployed and unmotivated Hlynur (Hilmir Snaer Gudnason) is still living with his mother, Berglind (Hanna Maria Karlsdottir), in a decidedly non-picturesque section of Reykjavik, Iceland, spending his days watching porn and wandering around the city. One drunken night Hlynur sleeps with Lola (Victoria Abril), his mother's vivacious, avowedly lesbian flamenco teacher. Soon afterwards, Berglind announces that she and Lola are lovers and that -- by the way -- Lola is pregnant.

A wonderful, cockeyed sex comedy. show more

Much of this is pretty funny, in its perverse, disorienting style, and there's an irrepressible sunniness to the relationship between Lola and Hlynur's mother. show more

    Lou Lumenick New York Post

Accurately described as an Icelandic version of Pedro Almodovar's gender-bending black comedies -- but it's also reminiscent of early Woody Allen movies. show more
