Instead of getting smirky and campy and blowing out the joke in the first few scenes, Grahame-Smith and director Timur Bekmambetov straight-face it. They ask themselves, well, what would it be like if the main struggle of Lincoln's life were with vampires intent on taking over the new world? And they answer the question as realistically and soberly as they can within this loony framework. show more

A stylish slasher of a movie, a monster flick that does its vampires right, if not their real-life counterparts. show more

What I don't understand is why this extended piece of idiocy chose to sink its stinky teeth into our 16th president. If an axe-wielding hero was required, George Washington would have been the better choice, with the Redcoats as bloodsuckers. show more

This insipid mashup of history lesson and monster flick takes itself semi-seriously, which is truly deadly. show more

Genre enthusiasts will lap up the mixture of action and fantasy, while history buffs who don't mind a bit of rewriting will dig into an alternative spin on the Civil War period. show more

It doesn't take long for Bekmambetov to wear out his welcome with a laundry list of generic-looking action sequences: When you've seen one vampire get stabbed in the eyeball, you've seen 'em all. show more

Without a doubt the best film we are ever likely to see on the subject - unless there is a sequel, which is unlikely, because at the end, the Lincolns are on their way to the theater. show more

sorry to sound like such a prick. This film deprived us of the importance this man has in history. Thanks for cashing in on the vampires and patriotism scene. Thanks for producing a film that blatantly suckered us in through visual effects and nothing more. This movie is a poor excuse for making a buck. I\'m surprised it even made it to theatres. God awful movie!

I wasn’t sure to expect about this movie, I thought maybe it was just going to be another teenager film about vampires, I was pleasantly surprised and wrong, this movie was well done historical events that blended into the story quite well, even the presidents personal tragedies, did not insult my intelligence, I wish I would have seen it in the 3D, beautiful movie to look at, this movie will be added to my DVD collection when it comes out. I enjoyed this more then “The Dark Knight Ri

I love tim burton, but his name is the only reason this movie is ranked so high. It was not very good. I would have walked out if I hadn\'t been with a group of people. The plot is thin, the theory basic
