Those who panned Beloved seemed out of touch with their proported ability to understand its complicated and history-bound emotionality. The unfolding of the tale during the three hours of film was carefully done and fed the horrible impact of slavery felt by Sethe to the viewer a bit at a time. Masterful handling of a difficult topic brought to life by brilliant acting!
