A brilliant piece of nasty business that races on a B-movie track until it switches to the dizzying fuel of undiluted creativity. Damn, it's good. You can get buzzed just from the fumes coming off this wild thing. show more

Mainstream audiences will probably be confounded by Drive, while lovers of gritty filmmaking will defend every exaggerated shotgun wound as art. Know which camp you're in before you enter the theater. show more

The look is artfully stylized, influenced by classic film noir; the mood is dark; the performances nuanced; and the story unnervingly exciting. show more

Few actors working today could make emotional sense of such a protean character, but Ryan Gosling does so with calm authority. He's a formidable presence in a film that grabs your gaze and won't let go except for moments when you can't help but look away. show more

For all the movement in Drive, the quiet, deathly still moments are the ones that count. show more

So it's a fun, if not exhilarating, ride, one sped along with the help of a wonderfully assembled cast. show more

Drive not only met my hopes; it charged way over the speed limit, partly because it's an unapologetically commercial picture that defies all the current trends in mainstream action filmmaking. show more

Low-key, sleek and sophisticated, Drive provides the visceral pleasures of pulp without sacrificing art. It's cool and smart. Some critics might even call it European. show more

The entire film, in fact, seems much more real than the usual action-crime-chase concoctions we've grown tired of. Here is a movie with respect for writing, acting and craft. It has respect for knowledgable moviegoers. show more

This movie was written badly, story holding the movie together is as if a 5 year old boy put it together. The casting is terrible and ridiculous for the \'mobsters\'. Now, Ryan should have remained gay in the movie, and this movie would have broke down the stereo types of a macho driver, a loner..

The driving sequences were brilliant - the rest sucked. Most overrated film on 2011

The reviews on this site are ridiculous. The only movies that get good user ratings are the ones pulling 5\'s or lower on other sites. This movie was fantastic

Arguably the best film of 2011. Only a mindless dolt with a severe case of ADHD would claim this study of character and relationships is a bore. Wonderful performances by the cast (especially Albert Brooks) plus a retro/techno score *********** to this story that borders on film noir. I was pleased this wasn\'t the mindless crap that \"The Fast and Furious\" films are. This is a real film, for people who appreciate the art of film. Not the explosion filled, story-less nonsense that Hollywood produces more often than not.

This movie is not for the fast and furious crowd. The movie takes its time to tell the story to enrich the viewer into the feel of the characters and the world they live in. Great story and it left me wanting to take a drive around night playing the movies soundtrack.
