The 82nd annual Academy Awards are upon us, and Oscar party invitations are likely flooding your mailbox. Don't duck them because you haven't seen all the nominated movies yet. Just consult our handy guide -- and then if someone asks you what you thought...
Here, read this. Well, maybe don't sit there and read the whole thing -- especially not if you haven't seen In the Loop, which is an undeniable highlight of 2009, and which some people will hopefully check out now that it's scored a Best Adapted...
Last year everyone was penciling in Shutter Island as one of the contenders for the expanded Best Picture slot. A safe bet, sight unseen, even as far back as May. It was pretty much a blank slate at that point with only Up and even Star Trek being...
If it ain't on the page it ain't in the actors' mouths. Or some applicable rhyme. Of the 20 Lead and Supporting actors on my list, which ones will be told they did it all by themselves and which will see their guidelines in the running. We have 10 open...
Call us greedy, but we've said it once, and we'll say it again: Ten is not enough. While nearly all movie critics engage in the time-honored tradition of ranking their picks for 10 best flicks of the year, we prefer to take this time of year to recognize...

I espeically liked the scenes taking place at the United Nations. There ia a perception that diplomats act differently within the walls of the Organization but \"In the Loop \" shows how q... uickly they shed that aura of statesmanshp and return to thei\\r true nature of petty politics and boorish behavior. A funny look at how wars are decided on by armies of bureaucrats in different countries who are wasting huge amounts of taxpayer dollars (like many bureaucrats do).
Putting everything else aside, I deplore movies shot in "Cinema Verite" (hand held/shaky camera technique). Unless you bring a bottle of Excedrin and sea sickness pills with you, STAY AWAY!... The other aspects of this film are as equally pathetic. Next time, add a Steadicam to your budget! Full Review
I loved this movie... but I can totally see why other people's ratings were so low. In the Loop is VERY audience-specific. If you are looking for a fantastic plot, this is NOT your kind of film. Th... e movie is a sort of comedy of errors, and its humor comes from political and cultural references that are often obscure. (I laughed at several jokes that no one else in the audience got, and vice-versa.) The dialogue is what makes this film really shine- especially if you can understand the thick Scottish accents of a few of the main characters. The cast is incredible, and the content is an interesting- and often depressing- look at American and British politics-as-usual. Would I recommend it to a friend? Well, certain friends, but I know not all of them would enjoy it. Full Review
fleirio about the worse movie I'v seen in a long time. Bad enough that we walked out.I wanted my money back. Everything Martin 21 said I agree with.
