This docudrama explores the unusual friendship between African-American boxer Joe Louis (Leonard Roberts) and German pugilist Max Schmeling (Til Schweiger). They first clash in the ring in 1936, a bout that ends in a Schmeling knock-out victory. Two years later, Louis returns the favor. After the end of World War II, Schmeling learns that Louis is in financial straits and seeks out his onetime rival -- igniting a friendship that will last their entire lives.
